Digital literary studies are characterized by the combination of traditional and digital methods. Based on close reading, literary-historical source studies, and cultural context expertise, research questions are abstracted in such a way that they can be operationalized for the use of digital tools. Digital literary studies change the way we think about theories and interpretations and prove to be a critical intermediary between text and data analysis.
