Digital discourse analysis

  • DFG-research group “Kontroverse Diskurse” (2022-2026). Sub-projects 2 “Mensch und Technologie” (with C. Spieß, Marburg) and 7 “Methodologie und Reflexion” and management of the corpus infrastructure of the research group. You can find more information here (in German).

  • Conception and operation of the Discourse Lab – digtal teaching and research platform for discourse analysis as transcultural research, funded in the scope of the DFG Excellence Initiative II (2015-2017) by the Innovation Fund FRONTIER at the University of Heidelberg
  • Changing Climates: a cross-country comparative analysis of discourses around climate change in the news media (with Carmen Dayrell, John Urry, and Tony McEnery, Center for Corpus Approaches to Social Sciences, Lancaster; Maria Cristina Caimotto, Università degli Studi di Torino)

  • Corpus-based analysis of heuristic textual practices in the sciences – with Michael Bender (TU Darmstadt)
  • Corpus-based discourse grammar: possessivity as a grammatical and cognitive category, modal particles as a contextualization marker, chapter 'Diskursgrammatik' in the Handbuch 'Diskurs

Language corpora

  • Linguistically annotated version of the corpus “Deutscher Novellenschatz” (Thomas Weitin, Darmstadt)
  • Development of a project corpus on the concept of risk in recent German linguistic history – with Jens O. Zinn (Melbourne)
  • Various project corpora for discourse analysis (for example on climate change, the vaccination discourse, populism) – with Ekkehard Felder (Heidelberg) and Jörn Stegmeier (Darmstadt & Trier)
  • Research network “Sprache und Wissen”– Knowledge Domain “Kunst – Kunstbetrieb – Kunstgeschichte”: Handbuch Sprache in der Kunstkommunikation (in cooperation with H. Hausendorf, University of Zurich)
